Athenienne/ Lavabo / Gueridon

This absolutely rare Athenian or Lavabo was created in Paris around 1785.
It is made of the highest quality in fire-gilded bronze.
The lower shelf is made of white marble, and was used to put down the water jug.
Thanks to the original wheels, under the legs ending in lion's paws, this Athenienne can be easily moved freely in the room.
The design for this type of Athenian or Gueridons (with marble top) probably comes from Dominique Daguerre
and was probably created by Adam Weisweiler, his workshop or his circle.
For this, see an past auction of a leading international auction house.
The porcelain or ceramic plate originally located at the top of the original wooden bowl is probably broken in the past and no longer available.
It was supplemented by me with an Italian faience plate in Renaissance style.
All in all, a highly rare treasure on which the craftsmanship of the French bronzers, shisels and fire gilders can be admired.
